Received B.E. in Electronics Engineering from REC, (VNIT) Nagpur, Nagpur University.

Obtained M.Tech and Ph.D. (Electronics and Communication Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 1972 and 1979 respectively. He started his career as Scientific Officer in TIFR for Mumbai. He was faculty member in Radar and communication Centre of I.I.T. Kharagpur from 1974 to 1983. He joined Osmania University, Hyderabad as Professor of ECE in 1983 and served as Head, Chairman Board of Studies, Dean of Faculty of Engineering. He was the Coordinator of Projects IMPACT and TEQIP funded by World Bank for Quality improvement in Electronics Engineering Education. He was the first Director of VNIT, Nagpur. He has 140 publications in National/International Journals and Conference Proceedings and guided 12 Ph.Ds, several Master's thesis. He successfully completed many sponsored research projects funded by DRDO, Ministry of Defence, AICTE, CSIR, Department of Science and Technology, Indian Space Research Organization. He was instrumental in formulating the project NETWORK funded by Swiss Development Cooperation for Electronics Engineering Education. Before joining as Vice Chancellor he was Professor Emeritus and Director, Centre for Excellence in Microwave Engineering at Osmania University, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. He is Fellow of IETE, IE, A.P. Academic of Sciences and won several awards such as Best Teacher Award from A.P. State Government, Best teacher award from faculty of Engineering, Osmania University, Sir Visweswaraya Award from Institute of Engineers, Anna University National Award from Indian Society of Technical Education, two IETE National awards and Life Time Excellence Award from Teacher's Academi for his contribution to teaching, curricula development and research in Microwaves and Radar Engineering in particular and Electronics and Communication Engineering in general. Dr. V.M. Pandharipande has published 18 Books in Marathi Literature and more than 350 Short Stories, Articles, Poems in standard magazines and News papers in Marathi. He is on editorial Board of Journal of IETE, AP Academi of Sciences and Reviewer for National/International Journal papers. Dr. V.M. Pandharipande is a Fellow of IETE, IE and A.P. Academy of Sciences
